RFC from Basis perspective

Hi Everyone,

I have started learning basis.

My Question is, there are four types of RFC communications.

1.Synchronous 2.Asynchronous 3.Transactional  4.Queued.

Where we will be mentioning/defining the RFC communication type in SAP?
